That’s right people, Empire has inspired two fragrances, one for men and one for the ladies that capture all the New York hustle, music industry sexiness and family drama the show has to offer.
The Skyroom at the New Museum hosted the launch party tonight, which premiered the two new scents in true Lyon style. The gorgeous city skyline wrapped the room from all angles enveloping guests in that “city vibe”. The specialty cocktails like, “Cookie’s Nookie” made all guest feel like they were sipping with the cast, some who even made an appearance. Bryshere Y. Gray (Hakeem Lyon) and Kaitlin Doubleday (Rhonda Lyon) talked to fans, posed for pictures and both seemed to enjoy the scent for themselves.
This isn’t the first collaboration the TV show has had with consumer products; inspiring fashion lines, cigars and other beauty products. You could say the on screen hustle is inspiring a real life lifestyle brand…or at this rate, should I say Empire.
The women’s fragrance, Lyon’s Truth is a floral scent with notes of violet blossom, velvet rose, blackberry and velvet plum, sandal wood, tonka bean and vanilla. I found the scent to develop into a powerfully sexy scent, but not overpowering and still very feminine. The men’s fragrance, Lyon’s Legacy is a fresh scent with hints of citrus like bergamot, lemon water and geranium rooted in warm amber, vanilla suede and tobacco leaf notes. This scent was very masculine overall and insured to make a statement without overwhelming.
Now if the fragrances themselves don’t have you thinking power and luxury, the packaging sure will. Both scents are beautifully housed in glass bottles showcasing the gold parfum, along with black leather and gold details that give you the luxury of hip hop, without all the Lyon’s drama.
