There is no doubt that Michael Costello is known for designs that exude flowing sex goddess vibes.
Since his days as a contestant on Project Runway’s 8th season, he has since returned to the well known show as a finalist on their ‘All Star’ season, gained a large celebrity clientele and now continues to bring new, exciting designs to the runways of Fashion Week.
(As luck would have it, my camera decided to stop functioning just before the show. Luckily I had my iPhone to take some shots, please excuse the quality)
His newest SS17 collection features jewel toned dresses, gowns and jumpsuits. We saw embellished tulles and statins, and plenty of sparkle! This season seemed to introduce a few new silhouettes to Costello’s arsenal with more structured tops, bubbled sleeves and flared skirts. My personal favorites were his opening number, a berry colored gown which oozed sexy boho glam. Oh and let’s not forget this green sequin gown!
The crowd went wild as model Tyson Beckford walked the runway in a magenta and fuchsia satin printed suit, and the collections only menswear piece. They also ooo’ed and ahh’ed at when Costello’s youngest model rocked a strapless, mullet hem gown. Is this a glimpse in the future? Are there kidswear and menswear lines to come? We can only hope…
