I like to think of culottes as the brussels sprout of fashion; both tend to get a bad rap, even before most get a chance to try them. Having once been in disbelief myself that culottes could flatter my wardrobe or that brussels sprouts could excite my taste buds, I feel ‘ya.
What I’ve realized, however, through accepting new things (be it in your fashion or food palette) is the importance of pairings. So here I am, pairing my HM culottes with a more structured gold C/MEO top; drizzling the metaphorical cheese on top of an otherwise casual look. As always, I’m accessorizing the look with bold shoes and fringe earrings for a bit of added flavor.
These pants offer versatility through seasons as well, pairing well with not only summer pieces as shown here. I can already envision myself wearing these with a chunky cropped sweater for winter, or letting the shorter hem showcase some fab boots in the fall.
And just like that, I’ve learned that culottes can flatter (and sprouts can excite) leaving me to reach for more colors, different textures (or seconds). So eat your veggies and take fashion risks, your body and your wardrobe will thank you.
